Introduction 
Production and marketing department has got four sectors:

1. Agricultural sector.
2. Veterinary sector.
3. Fisheries sector.
4. Regional/veterinary laboratory services sector.

The department has got 10 staffing status as Agricultural Extension Staff deployed in the two City Divisions ie Nyendo/ Mukungwe and Kimaanya/ Kabonera City Division as the implementation levels.

These sectors are being managed by sectoral heads respective. Disciplines as the subject matter specialist.

All Co-ordination and planning for the department is done at the city headquarters by the production coordinator/manager who heads the department.

Main Objectives:

1. To provide efficient and streamlined agricultural advisory services to the community for increased and improved production security status.
2. To effectively and efficiently undertake administration and management of Agricultural activities in the city.
3. To transform production from subsistence to market orientated production.

1. A well-coordinated and managed Agricultural Extension services in the city.
2. Value chain developments of priority commodities.
3. Farmer institutional development.
4. Agricultural statistical data collection and management.
5. Soil land management practices.
6. Regulation of food safety and storage on the city markets.
7. Promotion climate smart technologies.
8. Plant and animal disease surveillance and control.
9. Rabbies control by stray dog population control and domestic pet vaccinations.
10. Soil testing services.

11. Provision of improved seeds, seedlings and livestock breeds ln close linkage with research and other development.
